The train journey from Lisbon to Ferreiras is a scenic trip that takes you from Portugal’s capital through the varied landscapes of the Alentejo and Algarve regions in the south. The journey begins at the historic Santa Apolónia Station, located close to the city centre and the Tagus River, where you board either an Alfa Pendular or Intercidades train, both offering a fast and comfortable ride to the Algarve region.

As the train leaves Lisbon, you may cross either the 25 de Abril Bridge or the Vasco da Gama Bridge, depending on the route, offering beautiful views over the Tagus River and the city skyline. Shortly after crossing, the landscape shifts into the open plains of the Alentejo region, with olive groves, cork forests, and wide rural scenery stretching towards the horizon.

As you approach the Algarve, the terrain becomes more hilly, with whitewashed villages and traditional red-roofed houses typical of the region. The train passes through towns such as Tunes, before arriving at Ferreiras Station.

Ferreiras Station is located just a few kilometres from the coastal town of Albufeira, one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Algarve. From here, a short local taxi ride will take you to Albufeira and its nearby beaches with golden sand and clear waters.
