Grand Tour France – 12 days / 11 nights

You start your journey from a Danish train station by boarding an InterCity train. It is also possible to begin the trip with a flight to Paris.

Along the way, you pass through the beautiful Danish countryside. As you leave Denmark, the landscape gradually changes. Northern Germany offers open fields, rivers, and forest areas.

After a few hours, you arrive at Hamburg Central Station, one of Germany’s largest and busiest railway hubs. Here, you change to a German ICE train with a restaurant carriage. As a result, you can easily buy refreshments during the journey. The trains offer high comfort, good legroom, WiFi, and power outlets for charging devices.

Continue through northern Germany, where fields, forests, and small villages pass by the window. Afterwards, you arrive in Mannheim after approximately five hours of travel.

1 night in Mannheim. The city is located in the southwest of Germany and serves as an ideal hub for travelling across Europe. It is a charming and well-connected city with a TGV train station.

One of the most notable landmarks in Mannheim is the Baroque Mannheim Palace, located in the city centre. This impressive palace is an architectural highlight and is now home to the University of Mannheim. Nearby, you will find the beautiful Luisenpark, a large green space with lakes, flowerbeds, and landscaped gardens. As a result, it is an ideal place to relax and enjoy nature.

After breakfast in Mannheim, you continue the final stretch to Paris by high-speed TGV train. The trains offer spacious seating, WiFi, a bistro carriage, and power outlets for charging devices.

The journey takes just under two hours. As a result, you can enjoy views of the changing German–French countryside along the way.

Upon arrival at Paris Est, you have two nights in the city. Your hotel is naturally within walking distance of the station, making arrival easy and comfortable.

2 nights in Paris. Time to explore Paris on your own. The “City of Light” is one of the most romantic destinations in the world. As a result, you have a full day at leisure to experience its elegant architecture, the Eiffel Tower, or one of the many world-famous museums.

Enjoy Champ de Mars at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. In addition, visit one of the many excellent cafes and restaurants across Paris, known for its gastronomy and atmosphere.

2 nights in Marseille. You have plenty of time to explore this charming port city. Marseille is known for its lively Vieux Port, where you can experience the maritime atmosphere, enjoy fresh seafood, and admire the colorful fishing boats. As a result, the city offers a perfect mix of culture, sea life, and local charm.

You can also explore the old district Le Panier, with its narrow streets and colorful houses. In addition, visit the impressive basilica Notre-Dame de la Garde, located on a hill with panoramic views over the city and the Mediterranean Sea.

Marseille is also famous for its culinary scene. The city offers many restaurants and cafes where you can taste traditional  Provençal dishes as well as international cuisine. For example, bouillabaisse, the famous fish soup, is a local specialty you should not miss during your stay.

The journey continues along the French Riviera to Nice. The train ride takes just under 2.5 hours.

Along the way, you are rewarded with breathtaking views of the French Riviera. You see beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters, and picturesque landscapes. As a result, the journey between Marseille and Nice becomes a scenic highlight of the trip.

2 nights in Nice. Nice is one of the most popular destinations on the French Riviera, known for its natural beauty, rich culture, stunning beaches, and vibrant atmosphere.

One of the most distinctive features of Nice is its breathtaking coastline and beautiful beaches. The golden sandy beaches, the clear waters of the Mediterranean, and the relaxed coastal atmosphere are key reasons why visitors are drawn to the city. As a result, it offers an ideal setting for both relaxation and exploration.

The famous Promenade des Anglais stretches along the coastline and is a popular place for walking, cycling, and enjoying sea views.

The old town of Nice, known as Vieux Nice, is a charming maze of cobbled streets, colorful buildings, and lively markets.

After breakfast, the day begins with a train journey from Nice to Lyon. You travel by direct TGV train to Lyon. The journey takes just under 5 hours. As a result, you can enjoy the beautiful French countryside along the way.

After breakfast, it is time to travel to Annecy, often called the “Venice of the Alps”. Annecy is a historic medieval town beautifully located on Lake Annecy, with views of the Alps. As a result, the city offers a unique combination of lake scenery and mountain landscapes.

The town is known for its idyllic setting by the lake and its well-preserved old town. In addition, the medieval streets retain their authentic architecture and charm, creating a distinctive atmosphere.

2 nights in Annecy. Annecy is a beautiful medieval town located on Lake Annecy, with views of the Alps. The city is known for its idyllic setting by the lake and its well-preserved old town, which retains its authentic architecture and charm.

Annecy is often called “Venice of the Alps” due to its canals that run through the city, creating a unique and picturesque atmosphere. As a result, the town feels both historic and highly scenic.

Discover the historic Palais de l’Isle, a 12th-century fortress located on an island in the Thiou River. In addition, the old town is ideal for exploration, with cobbled streets, medieval buildings, and colorful facades that create a charming atmosphere.

Lake Annecy is one of the highlights of the region. The crystal-clear lake is surrounded by lush mountains and offers spectacular views throughout the year.

Food and dining in Annecy are of high quality. The city is known for its cheese production, where you can try local varieties such as Reblochon and Tomme de Savoie. In addition, many restaurants serve traditional Savoyard dishes such as raclette and fondue. Finally, do not miss the local version of blueberry tart.

Train journey to Geneva. You take a local regional train to Geneva. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. As a result, it is a short and comfortable transfer through scenic surroundings.
