You begin your journey from a Danish train station by boarding an InterCity train.

Along the way, you pass through the beautiful Danish countryside. As you leave Denmark, you will clearly notice how the landscape changes. Northern Germany is rich in fields, rivers and forest areas.

After a few hours, you arrive at Hamburg Central Station, one of the largest and busiest railway stations in Germany. Travellers from Funen and Aarhus can change trains in Flensburg and travel directly with České dráhy at 08:33.

In Hamburg, you change trains to a German or Czech ICE train with a restaurant carriage. This gives you a good opportunity to buy refreshments during the journey. The trains offer high comfort, good legroom, WiFi and power outlets for charging mobile phones, laptops and more.

Enjoy the northern German fields, forests and small charming villages passing by your window. After a few hours, you reach Berlin, where you can admire the vibrant German capital and Alexanderplatz from the train windows. After a train change or a short stop at the station in Berlin, the journey continues south through Saxon Switzerland and Bohemian Switzerland.

A few hours later, the train passes through the historic city of Dresden. From Dresden, the journey continues along the Elbe through Saxon and Bohemian Switzerland. Enjoy the Elbe on one side of the train and impressive rock formations on the other, while passing small villages and beautiful Czech landscapes.

You arrive in Prague in the evening and stay at a carefully selected hotel close to the station.

Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle complex in the world. From the outside, it is an impressive building, but inside it is an even more magnificent attraction, offering a breathtaking panorama of 4 palaces, 4 churches and 5 gardens. The castle is located on a hill that can be seen from most parts of Prague. In summer, the church tower is open to visitors, where you can experience a truly stunning view over the city.

See the Astronomical Clock, which is connected to the Old Town Hall in Prague. A mechanical show takes place every hour from 09:00 to 21:00. When the clock strikes, two small doors above the clock open and the 12 apostles appear one by one. They turn and greet the crowd. Several other interesting elements follow, and finally the rooster crows and the doors close.

The Old Town Hall is a beautiful attraction and is now a popular place to get married. You can explore various cellars and a chapel with wall paintings. Many famous people have visited this building, including Princess Diana and actor Tom Cruise.

The iconic bridge over the Vltava River is called Charles Bridge and is named after a Czech king. It is decorated with statues and is one of the city’s most famous landmarks. If you prefer a peaceful walk across the bridge, it is best to go early in the morning before the large crowds arrive.

Letná Park is also perfect for a relaxing walk, where you can enjoy panoramic views over Prague’s bridges.

Prague is a city rich in history, architecture and cultural experiences, and with two days you can gain a great impression of its beauty and charm.

After breakfast at your hotel within walking distance of the station, you take the train from Hlavní nádraží (Prague Central Station) to the Slovak capital, Bratislava.

You travel by train with a restaurant carriage and a high level of comfort, including comfortable seating.

The train first passes through southern Prague before leaving the city, where you can enjoy the beautiful Czech countryside. The landscape gradually becomes more hilly as you approach Moravia and the Slovak border. The train makes only four stops along the way, and you arrive in Bratislava after approximately 4.5 hours.

2 nights in Bratislava. The Slovak capital offers charming history and beautiful architecture. The Danube winds its way through the city centre, and the city’s location close to both Vienna and Budapest makes it attractive for river transport and tourism.

The Old Town of Bratislava offers cosy streets, beautiful buildings and a large number of cafés. There are also many restaurants in Bratislava, where you can taste Slovakia’s national dish, consisting of dumplings with sheep cheese and crispy bacon. Typical dishes in Bratislava are a mix of Austrian, Hungarian and Slovak cuisine. Potato pancakes and fried cheese are also classic dishes.

Visit Bratislava Castle and explore the city’s history while enjoying fantastic views over the Danube. The castle has four towers and is located on a wooded hill. From here, you can see both Austria and Hungary. There is an entrance fee to visit the castle, but access to the outdoor areas is free.

Sandberg is an excavation site where you can find fossils and remains of ancient sea animals such as shells, shark teeth and skeletons from early mammals. Enjoy the view across the landscape, the Danube, the sandy hills and the desert-like surroundings.

If you have a sweet tooth, try their speciality, which resembles a croissant and is filled with either poppy seeds or walnuts. They are crispy, sweet and very popular.

The journey continues with a 2.5-hour direct train ride from Bratislava to Budapest in Hungary. From your seat on the train, you quickly notice how the landscape changes. The train has a restaurant carriage and comfortable seating. During the journey, you can enjoy views of beautiful landscapes and the Danube, which winds along parts of the route.

In Budapest, you arrive at Budapest Nyugati Station, one of the most beautiful railway stations in Europe.

2 nights in Budapest. The Hungarian capital is full of history and vibrant city life.

In Budapest, thermal baths are very popular. Both locals and tourists visit them regularly. Come and experience the healing effects and enjoy the atmosphere among other visitors. In Budapest, visiting the baths is similar to going to a café in Denmark. People relax, socialise and enjoy the experience, while also having the option of massages, saunas or cold-water pools.

Visit the Hospital in the Rock, a wartime hospital built inside a hill. Today, it functions as a museum, and you can join a guided tour of approximately one hour with an English-speaking guide. It is not recommended for those with claustrophobia, as the tour goes deep into tunnels under the rock. The atmosphere is very special and slightly eerie.

Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion offer beautiful views over the Danube and the Parliament. Many concerts are held in the church. The area is pleasant to walk around, and there are several cafés where you can relax, have a drink or take a short break.

The Parliament is a popular tourist attraction. The impressive building gives a sense of another country’s political life and features a dome almost 100 metres high. Guided tours with an English-speaking guide are available, but due to official events, tours may be cancelled at short notice.

Public transport runs to Margaret Island, a peaceful place where many people go to relax. The island is car-free. It offers walking paths through park areas, a water tower, a musical fountain and a small zoo. It is a perfect place for cycling, and you can rent bikes, pedal cars or segways.

For those who prefer a more active holiday, hiking and outdoor activities are recommended in the beautiful Buda Hills on the Buda side of the city. There are forest trails leading to fantastic viewpoints over Budapest. Visit János Hill and take the cable car to Elizabeth Tower, where you can enjoy a truly special view.

Budapest also offers an excellent gastronomic scene. Try traditional Hungarian dishes such as gulyás (goulash soup), lángos (fried bread), and Hungarian cakes such as Dobos torta or kürtőskalács (chimney cake). You can also enjoy local wines and visit lively markets to experience the authentic atmosphere.

The train journey to the final capital of your trip begins at Budapest Keleti Station, which is centrally located in the city.

The journey takes just under 2.5 hours, and along the way you can enjoy views of picturesque landscapes and changing terrain.

2 nights in Vienna. You will, of course, stay close to the station. The Austrian capital is a city rich in history, culture and elegance. The city lies on the banks of the Danube and is known as one of the most impressive cities in Europe. Vienna has a rich imperial heritage that can still be experienced in its architecture and cultural traditions.

The historic city centre, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a testament to its imperial past. Explore the medieval centre with its many narrow and charming cobbled streets.

A great way to experience Vienna while staying active is a kayak trip on the Danube. There are several rental points along the river. You can also rent a paddleboard for 1–4 hours, and it is possible to receive instruction from an instructor.

Experience the coffeehouse culture, relaxing walks, fantastic views and exciting restaurants in Vienna. Try the classic Viennese coffee Melange and the famous Sachertorte or Apfelstrudel. Take a walk through Vienna’s old town and enjoy the historic buildings, numerous parks, and charming streets filled with shops and cafés.

Vienna is known for its wine taverns, where you can taste local wines alongside a delicious dinner. The classic dish Wiener schnitzel or local cheeses and sausages are highly recommended.

Visit the Imperial Palace Hofburg and explore the imperial apartments. See the treasures in the Imperial Treasury and learn about the life of Empress Sisi up to her death.

Schönbrunn Palace, with its beautiful gardens, is a popular tourist attraction. This park landscape features cafés, fountains and beautifully maintained flowers and lawns. Inside the palace, you can see 40 of the 1,441 rooms, one of which was used by Napoleon during his stay.

In the night train, a sleeping compartment is, of course, included in the price of the trip. A journey by night train is not only a practical way to travel, but also allows you to save time and money by avoiding a hotel stay. You also get a unique experience of travelling through landscapes at night and waking up in a new destination.
