North Cape Train Journey – 11 Days / 10 Nights

1 overnight stay in Stockholm. Often called the “Venice of the North”, Stockholm is built across many islands near the Baltic Sea, offering beautiful natural surroundings. The city has a distinct Scandinavian character and is shaped by canals and bays.

The old town of Stockholm, Gamla Stan, is one of the city’s most famous attractions. The district is full of atmosphere, with cosy cobbled streets and colourful buildings that make it well worth a visit.

Stockholm offers plenty of cultural experiences as well as many beautiful green areas. Not to forget the lively café and restaurant scene.

After breakfast at the hotel, you have plenty of time to explore Stockholm before boarding the night train towards the Arctic Circle from Stockholm to Narvik around 18:00.

You will, of course, have your own private sleeper cabin on the train. Enjoy the journey and the night through Scandinavia, or have dinner in the train’s restaurant car.

2 nights in Narvik. You arrive in Narvik around midday and will, of course, stay at a hotel close to the station.

One of the most striking features of Narvik is its spectacular location. Surrounded by fjords and mountains, the town offers breathtaking natural scenery.

Narvik also offers excellent hiking opportunities. In summer, you can explore the mountains and surrounding nature on several marked trails.

The town also has a selection of restaurants and cafés.

The journey continues towards North Cape – the remainder of the trip by bus.

The bus journey is a scenic experience, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the Norwegian landscape from the comfort of your seat.

Departure from Narvik, heading north along the E6 highway.

Along the way, you will experience the changing landscapes of northern Norway, ranging from mountain peaks and deep valleys to lush forests and wide rivers. The raw beauty of northern nature offers many photo opportunities.

The bus journey takes just under 7 hours, and upon arrival in Alta, you will, of course, stay at a hotel within walking distance of the bus terminal.

2 nights in Alta. The location of the town in northern Norway offers a raw nature experience with stunning panoramic views.

Alta lies in an area where the indigenous people of Scandinavia, the Sámi, still play an important role, and it is sometimes possible to take part in activities such as Sámi cooking and reindeer experiences. The Sámi population forms a significant part of northern Norway, and the further north you travel, the more prominent their presence becomes.

The town also offers cultural attractions. One of the most well-known is the Alta Museum by the Altafjord, featuring rock carvings dating back to the Stone Age.

Alta is also known as one of the places in the world with the highest chances of seeing the Northern Lights.

The region is defined by fjords and mountains and is a popular destination for hikers, anglers and nature lovers.

The day brings you to the northernmost point of your journey. A day trip by bus from Honningsvåg to North Cape.

Along the way, you will be amazed by the dramatic landscape of steep cliffs, fjords and the endless sea. The spectacular scenery offers many photo opportunities and unforgettable moments.

After approximately one hour of driving, you arrive at North Cape. Here you stand at the edge of the majestic cliff and enjoy a breathtaking view over the Arctic Ocean.

At North Cape, there is also a visitor centre where you can learn more about the area’s history, nature and culture. You can also enjoy refreshments at one of the cafés or restaurants.

Return bus journey to Honningsvåg.

North Cape has been visited and experienced, and with many impressions in your luggage, it is time to start thinking about the journey home.

The trip to the most vibrant city in northern Norway, Tromsø, takes place with Hurtigruten and lasts approximately 12 hours. You will, of course, have a private cabin during the voyage.

2 nights in Tromsø. Tromsø is known as the “Gateway to the Arctic” and offers a mix of wild nature, restaurants and cafés.

Visit the Arctic Cathedral or the Polar Museum, or take the cable car up to Storsteinen.

It is time to return home. You will fly from Tromsø Airport with a connecting flight along the way before arriving back in Denmark at either Billund or Copenhagen Airport.
