Tatra Mountains – 7 days 6 nights

You begin your journey from a Danish train station, boarding an InterCity train.

Along the way, you pass through the beautiful Danish countryside, and as you leave Denmark, the landscape gradually changes. Northern Germany unfolds with wide fields, rivers, and forested areas.

After a few hours, you arrive at Hamburg Central Station, one of the largest and busiest railway hubs in Germany.

In Hamburg, you change trains to a German or Czech ICE train with a restaurant carriage. This offers a comfortable journey with plenty of opportunities to purchase refreshments on board. The trains feature spacious seating, generous legroom, WiFi, and power sockets for charging mobile phones, laptops, and other devices.

Enjoy views of northern German farmland, forests, and small villages passing by your window. After some hours, you arrive in Berlin, where you can admire the vibrant German capital and Alexanderplatz from the train.

After a short stop or train change in Berlin, the journey continues south through Bohemia.

A few hours later, you pass through the historic city of Dresden. From there, the route follows the Elbe River, travelling through Saxon Switzerland and Bohemian Switzerland. You will see the Elbe on one side of the train and dramatic rock formations on the other, as you pass small villages and scenic Czech countryside.

You arrive in Prague in the evening and check in to a carefully selected hotel located close to the station.

After the exciting days in the Low Tatras, the journey continues to the High Tatras. You will travel by private car with driver to Tatranská Lomnica in the High Tatras mountains. The drive offers breathtaking scenery as you pass between the two mountain ranges, with the dramatic peaks of the High Tatras rising impressively in the distance.

You will stay at a carefully selected hotel with an outdoor swimming pool and stunning mountain views in Tatranská Lomnica.

The journey continues with a short mountain railway ride from Tatranská Lomnica down to Poprad, the main town in the region. From Poprad, you board a modern intercity train to Košice, a journey of approximately 1.5 hours. In Košice, you may store your luggage at the station if you wish to explore the eastern Slovak capital.

Košice is the largest city in eastern Slovakia and is beautifully located, surrounded by mountains. The city centre is charming, with elegant buildings, cafés, and restaurants.

From Košice, your rail journey continues towards Budapest, Hungary.

You take the scenic train from Tatranská Lomnica to Poprad, where you change to an EuroCity train towards Košice. Along the way, you may enjoy views of the Spiš Castle ruins from the train window.

From Košice, you continue on a direct train to Budapest, with a journey time of approximately 3.5 hours.

As the train leaves Košice, you will see the Slovak countryside passing by your window: green fields, forests, and small villages. The train also crosses the Tisza River, adding to the scenic experience.

After crossing the border between Slovakia and Hungary, you approach Budapest, arriving at Keleti Railway Station, where your hotel is located within walking distance.

Look forward to seeing how the Danube River winds through the city, as well as iconic landmarks such as the Parliament Building and Buda Castle. From Buda Castle, you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view over the city.

You may also try some of the city’s famous thermal baths such as Gellért Baths, or stroll along the wide boulevards in the city centre.

Budapest also offers a fantastic culinary scene. Try traditional Hungarian dishes such as goulash (gulyás), langos (fried flatbread), and sweet specialties like Dobos torte or kürtőskalács (chimney cake). You can also enjoy local wines and visit lively markets to experience the authentic atmosphere.

After a good night’s sleep in Budapest, your journey comes to an end with a return trip to Denmark by train or flight.
