Czech castles

You begin your journey from a Danish train station, boarding an InterCity train.

Along the way, you pass through the beautiful Danish countryside before arriving in Flensburg. From here, you continue with the direct České dráhy train to Prague. The train departs at 08:33 and arrives in Prague approximately 9 hours later. (Please note that travellers from Copenhagen and northern Denmark will travel via a German ICE train, as direct connections do not allow for this transfer.)

On board, you can enjoy refreshments throughout the journey. The trains offer high comfort, generous legroom, WiFi, and power sockets for charging mobile phones, laptops, and other devices.

Enjoy the journey through Germany as you pass Hamburg, Berlin with Alexanderplatz, and the charming city centre of Dresden. The route from Dresden to Prague runs through Saxon Switzerland and Bohemian Switzerland, offering spectacular scenery with the River Elbe on one side and dramatic rock formations on the other. You also pass beautiful towns such as Děčín and Ústí nad Labem.

After approximately 9 hours of travel, you arrive at Prague Central Station, where your hotel is located within walking distance.

2 overnight stays in Prague. Visit some of the city’s museums, explore charming districts such as Malá Strana and Josefov (the Jewish Quarter), and enjoy local dishes in a traditional Czech restaurant. Known as the “Golden City”, Prague is considered one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, with a remarkably well-preserved historic centre. During your stay, you will also experience the first castle of the journey, Prague Castle (Pražský hrad).

After breakfast at the hotel, you take the short walk to the railway station, where you board the Pendolino high-speed train, which takes you to Olomouc in just under 2.5 hours. During the journey, you will enjoy the beautiful Czech landscape with fields, forests, and small towns passing by. This scenic train ride through Czechia offers a relaxing way to take in the countryside.

Upon arrival in Olomouc, you will experience the third castle of the journey and explore the city’s main sights, including the Holy Trinity Column and the famous astronomical clock. You will of course stay overnight in a hotel close to the train station in Olomouc.

2 overnight stays in Olomouc. Large parts of the city are UNESCO-listed, and it is known for its beautiful Old Town, rich in architecture and history. The city features an astronomical clock, which closely resembles the one in Prague, but is less known and far less crowded. This clock is a true technical and aesthetic gem and should not be missed.

Olomouc is also home to several churches and cathedrals, as well as beautiful parks and green spaces. During your stay, you can visit the city castle (the third castle on the journey) or simply explore the charming Old Town at your own pace.

Excursion from Olomouc to Bouzov Castle – the fourth castle of the journey. You will be picked up at your hotel by a guide who takes you on an exciting full-day excursion by minibus. The tour leads you into the countryside to Bouzov Castle, a fairytale-like fortress known from several films, including stories about the Italian princess Fantaghirò.

In our opinion, Bouzov Castle is one of the most beautiful castles in Czechia. Expect a day filled with history, atmosphere, and unforgettable views. After approximately 3 hours at the castle, you return to Olomouc and your hotel.

The day begins with a short walk to the train station in Olomouc, where you take the train to Brno. The journey takes just under 1.5 hours. The route from Olomouc to Brno is very scenic, passing through hilly terrain, green countryside, and small towns along the way.

After arrival in Brno, you will stay at a hotel close to the train station. Brno is the second-largest city in Czechia.

1 overnight stay in Brno. Brno is famous for its impressive architecture, and one of its most iconic landmarks is Špilberk Castle (the fifth castle of the journey). This majestic fortress, located on a hill above the city, is a striking example of medieval architecture and has played an important role in the city’s history.

Brno is also known for its lively atmosphere and rich cultural scene. The city offers many theatres, galleries, and museums. One of its most famous landmarks is Villa Tugendhat, a UNESCO-listed functionalist building and an architectural masterpiece.

In addition, the city features a wide selection of restaurants, cafes, and shops, creating a vibrant and welcoming urban experience.

The journey is coming to an end, and today you travel by train to Vienna, a journey of approximately 1.5 hours. Along the way, you can enjoy the changing scenery as you cross from Czechia into Austria.

In Vienna, you will have time to experience the beautiful main railway station and a glimpse of the city centre before boarding the night train in your own sleeper compartment, which will take you to Hamburg.

After breakfast on the train, you change in Hamburg to a daytime train back to Denmark.
